The Rex chain oils, popular among active cyclists, are carefully hand-mixed at our factory in Hartola, Finland, using the same raw materials as ski waxes. All our chain oils are wax-based and solvent-free.
Domestique
The Domestique recipe combines out-of-the-box thinking with the best raw materials in high-end ski waxes. Rex is an expert in paraffin wax-based applications with seven decades of experience. Domestique works in all conditions, combining the best properties of dry and wet lubes.

Rex Black Diamond gave the best overall result in a 300 km dynamometer test under 175 W magnetic resistance, leaving competing high-end chain lubricants behind. Wheel Energy designed the test protocol with no instructions or input from Rex. In addition to lab tests, Black Diamond has proven its performance in Tour de France 2019 (1 stage win).

Arctic-Chain Lube
Based on the popular Rex Domestique Chain Lube, the new Rex Arctic is a wax and oil hybrid lube resistant to snow, frost and road salt. Its composition has been improved for winter conditions with Rex N-Kinetic hydrophobic polymers. The improved winter properties include even better water resistance and effective corrosion prevention. The viscosity of Rex Arctic is optimized for cold conditions, and it lubricates without congealing, even in the hardest frosts (down to -30F).
